Regarding E.J. Dionne Jr.’s Sept. 27 column, “Throw the flag on NFL owners”:

Fall is my favorite season: changing leaves, cooler temperatures, early dusk, the smell of wood smoke and decay. Why must football spoil it? College on Saturday, the pros on Sunday, Monday and, ugh, even Thursday! I was elated last season at the prospect of a pro players strike, and the lockout of the referees this year seemed to be a bonanza.

But then I watched the Green Bay Packers game by accident with my football fanatic husband, and I was aghast. I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to NFL referees. You have a new fan. I will watch with respect. For you.

But I’ll continue to disrespect the owners and the NFL.
