Regarding the Feb. 13 front-page article Obama: Middle class is job one”:

As a nation, we’re $16 trillion in debt. On average, 30,000 Americans die annually from gun violence — 10 times as many as died on Sept. 11, 2001. We have a dysfunctional national legislature that excels at nothing except blaming the other party. But the state of the union is judged to be “strong”? Am I missing something?
