I am a member of the United Church of Christ. The church through the years has been involved in social justice, but I disagree with its stand on the name of the Washington Redskins [“Church leaders vote for boycott of Redskins,” Metro, June 15].

It is Dan Snyder’s team, and he should keep the name. After 70-some years, the name has suddenly become offensive. In Virginia, 7-year-olds are working in tobacco fields under terrible conditions, people are hungry and some are living under bridges. The church volunteers to change these things, but changing a name is meaningless. I am waiting to see who at my church gives up their season tickets and seeking the answer to the age-old question: What would Jesus do?
