Having recently returned to Washington after three years in Boston, I read with great interest the Sept. 25 front-page article “The gloves come off in Mass. contest: Senate rivals Brown and Warren go negative as race remains close.” But I must ask: Why are both candidates included in that headline?
The article notes that Sen. Scott Brown continues to accuse challenger Elizabeth Warren — without evidence — of claiming Native American heritage for professional advancement. But the only evidence presented against Warren is that she is urging voters to consider the senator’s votes and the national consequences of a Republican Senate.
Since when is highlighting the votes of an opponent taking “a sharp turn off the high road”?
