Christ Church in Alexandria. (Rich Grant/Alexandria Convention and Visitors Bureau)

Regarding the Oct. 29 Metro article "Historic Alexandria church to remove plaques honoring Washington, Lee":

Did Christ Church's new rector, the Rev. Noelle York-Simmons, have a premeditated agenda before she arrived, as suggested by her doctoral thesis, titled "Rendering Visible: Answering the Call to Preach Racial Justice in White Congregations"?

To what extent did the new rector, just after one year, deliberately use the people of Christ Church to acquire political attention and self-promotion ? Did she use the excuse of visitors feeling "unsafe" to leverage the change she desired in Christ Church from what she calls a "white church" to one with an agenda of social justice? Is she serving her own agenda as opposed to serving the parishioners of this church through Christ?
