Regarding the April 20 front-page column by Petula Dvorak, “The sheepish slink of the civil servants”:

There was nothing newsworthy about this scathing piece. Federal workers provide valuable services such as air traffic control, defense of our nation and protection of our environment and food supply. The list goes on and on.

Being human, they make mistakes. What happened with the General Services Administration and the Secret Service was inexcusable, but these actions were taken by a few federal workers who were way out of line, not by the whole federal workforce. If this column even deserved publication, it should have been on the opinion pages or hidden in the Metro section.
