The Dec. 27 editorial “15 cents a gallon” stated that the bills introduced in Congress to raise the gasoline tax are “meant to refill the [federal highway trust] fund based on the simple, unassailable principle that those who use the roads should pay for them.” The Post made a salient argument, but should this not also translate to the Metro system?

I urge the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority to not raise the toll on the Dulles Toll Road to pay for construction of a Metro line to Dulles International Airport.

I am more than willing to pay my fair share for what I use. In that same vein, Metro construction should be funded by Metro riders.
