A new Washington Post poll suggests that football remains by far the country's most popular sport and that the game's inherent violence is as much of an appeal as it is a liability.
This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone August 22 to 26 2012, among a random national sample of 1,020 adults, including 623 football fans, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. Results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The margin of error is 4.5 points for results among football fans.
