This 1930s classic was originally the signature cocktail of Los Angeles's Vendome Club, named for its neighbor, the famed Brown Derby restaurant. The trick is to incorporate the honey into the other liquids before adding the ice. A higher-proof bourbon works best here.
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
- 1/4 ounce honey
Combine the bourbon, grapefruit juice and honey in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, then shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail (martini) glass.
