Before joining The Washington Post as a video graphics editor, Atthar Mirza was an animator and video journalist at the Wall Street Journal. He produced original videos about China's Belt and Road project, the history of auto tariffs in the United States and campaign advertising.
Prior to the Journal, Atthar was an Animation Fellow at the Atlantic. At the Atlantic, Atthar created virtual reality videos, worked on a magazine cover story about the Mona Lisa, and animated and produced “A Visual History of Light.” The “Light” project won a Vimeo Staff Pick, recognition sought by filmmakers and animators around the world. Atthar is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a B.S. in Architecture & Design Thinking.
At The Post, Atthar produces original animations for stories across the newsroom and works on projects leveraging emerging technology, such as augmented reality.
