Dayana Sarkisova is the deputy editor of By The Way, The Washington Post's new travel initiative within the Emerging News Products department. She came to The Post from Vox Media’s SB Nation, where as deputy editor she managed staff and contributing writers on breaking, feature and enterprise stories. Previously, she served as deputy editor of the site's engagement team, overseeing producers across several social platforms and partnerships with Apple News and Google News. Throughout her time at Vox, Dayana was a contributing writer for Eater's coverage of the District. She was selected for the 2019 class of Poynter's Digital Women Leaders program. Before joining Vox Media, Dayana was the senior editor of Pro Football Focus and an editor at ESPN Insider. While attending Northwestern University, Dayana was captain of the school's Division 1 women’s fencing team and a four-time NCAA All-American. In the years before college, she traveled the world competing on behalf of the United States on the international fencing circuit. Dayana’s travel philosophy is that the best way to learn a new city is to eat and drink your way through it.
