General assignment desk Education: Randolph-Macon College, B.A. English/journalism Keith McMillan has been a GA editor since August 2017, leading weekend coverage during an unusually busy period of breaking news. The Sutherland Springs shooting and Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria transpired on his watch; and Keith displayed a deft editing touch, strong editorial judgment and a necessary sense of equanimity throughout. He also assigned and edited some of our most-read digital enterprise pieces of 2017. Keith came to The Post 10 years ago as a night copy editor in Sports. Since 2013, he has served as an assignment editor, overseeing coverage of the Redskins and, more recently, the NBA and Major League Baseball. Before joining The Post, he was a copy editor at USA Today and, before that, worked as a Potomac News reporter and designer. Keith’s journalism career began at the Herald-Progress, whose Hanover newsroom was a quick drive from Randolph-Macon College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism. He also played defensive back for the Yellow Jackets — and hasn’t stopped thinking about Division III football since: Keith was D3football.com’s national columnist for a dozen years and recently worked his 20th consecutive Division III championship game as a color analyst. -- Josh DuLac
