Javaid, a 2022 International Women's Media Foundation Elizabeth Neuffer Fellow, wrote opinions and editorials for the Boston Globe as part of her fellowship. Javaid grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, and moved to Washington, D.C., after spending many years in New York.
