Morell was with President Bush on Sept. 11, 2001 when al-Qaida attacked America, and he was with President Obama on May 1, 2011 when Osama bin Laden was brought to justice. Morell started his career at the CIA in 1980. He worked on East Asia for 14 years as an analyst and rose to ultimately become the director of the Office of Asian Pacific and Latin American Analysis; President George W. Bush’s intelligence briefer; an executive assistant to CIA Director George J. Tenet; the executive director of the CIA; the director for intelligence; the deputy director of the CIA; and twice acting director.
