Snow blankets the Washington D.C. region

The Washington, D.C. area has received its first major snow in years. Through noon, snowfall totals climbed to 5 inches to 10 inches in the immediate area, with some surpassing a foot in areas south of Fairfax County.

On Monday night, temperatures in Washington are expected to dip to 20 degrees — the coldest since January 31, 2019. Power outages are escalating. Nearly 350,000 are without power in Virginia, with the greatest concentration in north central Virginia. About 50,000 are without power in Maryland.
