Photos: 7 dead in Half Moon Bay mass shooting

Seven people were killed and one was critically injured in related shootings at two locations close to Half Moon Bay, Calif., San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said.

Police arrested 67-year-old Zhao Chunli of Half Moon Bay shortly after finding him in his vehicle around 4:40 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of a San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office substation. Zhao is believed to have acted alone in the shootings, Corpus said.

About 2:20 p.m. on Monday sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to San Mateo Road less than a mile from Main Street, the busiest part of Half Moon Bay, where they found a scene of bloodshed. More victims were then found at a second location.

A man suspected by police to be the gunman — named as Zhao Chunli — was later detained.
