FedExing a Tyrannosaurus rex
The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History has never had a real T. rex fossil before, and they’ve wanted one for a long time. Steve Hendrix, one of The Washington Post’s feature writers, followed the unlikely journey of the “nation’s T. rex,” the fossil now at the center of the long-awaited new fossil hall. Hendrix’s reporting took him to the Montana Badlands -- where a woman discovered the fossil in 1988 on a Labor Day weekend camping trip, through layers of earth and bureaucracy, to its new home in the Smithsonian’s fossil hall -- where it was shipped via FedEx.

Peggy McGlone, an arts reporter with The Post, talked with fossil hall curator Matthew Carrano about how these new dinosaurs fit into the exhibit opening Saturday.

2.1 million people are watching prison-related shows on YouTube
Joe Guerrero knew it was his last chance to make it outside of prison when he started his YouTube channel, After Prison Show. From hundreds of video views to millions, the former inmate now has a six-figure income, thanks to the popularity of prison content on the video site.

Guerrero is not alone. Other creators on YouTube are making videos about how to survive incarceration and then thrive once they are released. Tech reporter Peter Holley spoke to Guerrero and other creators about their journeys.
