Alexandria Villasenor isn’t your average 13-year-old. She’s trying to save Earth. The seventh-grader sits outside of the United Nations building in New York City every Friday with signs that say “School strike 4 climate” and “Cop24 failed us.”

Post science reporter Sarah Kaplan says Villasenor is not alone in her efforts: Tens of thousands of students have left school for some period of time in the name of climate-change activism.
