Puerto Rico waiting on food stamp funding
More than a million people in Puerto Rico depend on food stamp aid that was increased after Hurricane Maria. The funding ran out at the beginning of March, and Post reporter Jeff Stein says that’s the topic of conversation in grocery stores across the island.

“Puerto Rico does not have a U.S. senator, it doesn't have a voting member in the House, it doesn't get a say in the presidential elections,” Stein says. “A lot of the Puerto Ricans I spoke to while there said that that was the reason that they've been, to their mind, not treated fairly in the recovery.”

Congress is expected this week to take up the issue of food stamp funding for Puerto Rico.
