‘Trump triumphs’: Today’s front page

Over on The Fix, you can find The Washington Post’s front page from every presidential election since 1880.

The first, from 136 years ago, declared: “Garfield Elected: An Undoubted Republican Majority in the Electoral College.”

As Katherine Arcement notes, when James A. Garfield defeated Winfield Scott Hancock, The Post had been in print for three years.

We’ve been in the campaign reporting business ever since.
