Abby Finkenauer, a 28-year-old state legislator, won the Democratic nomination in Iowa’s 1st congressional district. She advances to a showdown with Republican Rep. Rod Blum in a key battleground in the fight for the Senate majority.
With 24 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press had Finkenauer, who would be the youngest-ever woman elected to Congress, with 74 percent of the vote.
President Trump won the the Northeast Iowa district by 3.5 percentage points in 2016.
