Kevin Stitt wins runoff for GOP nomination for governor in Oklahoma

Businessman Kevin Stitt has won the the Republican nomination for governor of Oklahoma, defeating Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, who had campaigned as the more moderate candidate, backing raises for teachers.

Stitt will face Democratic nominee Drew Edmundson, the state’s former attorney general, who easily won his June primary. In polls, Stitt had trailed or tied Edmundson, who left office in 2011 with high approval ratings.
