Today, ahead of a meeting with infant formula manufacturers, President Biden announced airlifts of formula from Europe and Australia as the nation continues to cope with shortages. Biden met virtually from the White House complex with company executives to discuss what’s known as the Operation Fly Formula missions as well as efforts to increase domestic production through use of the Korean War-era Defense Production Act.

“As a father and a grandfather, I understand how frustrating this shortage has been,” Biden said to open the meeting. He added that the “last thing we should ever do is allow unsafe formula to be sold to parents.” The president also called for an increase in production of “safe formula.”
