Justice Sonya SotomayorSotomayor is the first Hispanic justice and the third woman to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. A Yale Law School graduate, Sotomayor started her legal career as an assistant district attorney in New York. President George H.W. Bush nominated her to the U.S. District Court in 1991, and she was serving on the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit when President Obama tapped her for the high court in 2009.Steve Petteway/AP
