Republicans seen as out of touch, but not at midterm disadvantage

Nearly seven in 10 say the Republican Party is out of touch with the concerns of most people, scoring the GOP well below President Obama and the Democrats in empathy. But the disparity has not translated to an advantage in the upcoming midterm election, with voters split between Republicans and Democrats if the election were held today.
