Several descendants of John D. Rockefeller and his relatives and their spouses have held public office. Here are some of them.
John D. Rockefeller This photograph of John D. Rockefeller was taken in the early 1890s. This was about the time when the Ohio Supreme Court declared the Standard Oil Trust illegal, although it was not dissolved until 1899. Rockefeller owned more than 250,000 shares of about 800,000 of the trust’s capitalization. Those holdings were transferred into the newly constituted Standard Oil holding company. That company was later broken up under orders of the U.S. Supreme Court, but the Rockefellers maintained large holdings in the separated companies.AP
