The Health 202 Live
The United States has the highest per-capita costs for medical care in the world. In fact, Americans of all political parties consistently cite medical expenditures as their top health care concern. But as the public debate around health care continues to center on increasing access to insurance coverage, other factors that may be driving up costs are being ignored.
On Wednesday, June 20, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex M. Azar II sat down for an in-depth interview at Washington Post Live about today’s top health issues including his plans for lowering drug prices, Medicare payment reform and expanding the availability of lower-cost insurance options. Other speakers included: Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; and former FDA Commissioner David A. Kessler, MD.
