Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Kent Smetters, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and a former Treasury Department economic policy official, talks about the U.S. economy and Federal Reserve monetary policy. Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the Federal Reserve is considering additional asset purchases to boost growth after extending its pledge to keep interest rates low through at least late 2014.
