I am excited to announce Everdeen Mason has been named the new editor of the Audience Embed team. Everdeen takes over the group previously led by Jessica Stahl, who moved on to lead Audio earlier this year.
As Embed Editor, Everdeen will be a voice for experimentation within the newsroom as we continue to evaluate new ways to tell stories and distribute our journalism. Everdeen will also work with section and assignment editors on audience strategies, identifying how our coverage can meet and even exceed the expectations of our readers.
Everdeen most recently managed the Operations team on an interim basis while Megan Chan was on maternity leave. During that time, the team pioneered new live coverage tactics and helped guide our newsroom through changing traffic patterns. Operations editors have quickly become integral to their sections.
Everdeen joined The Post in 2016 as an audience editor and SEO lead. She has been a force for change, helping the newsroom reimagine a number of projects ranging from the annual holiday gift guide to our election state pages. She has also worked closely with Big Data, Product and engineers to develop new features in our CMS and tools we use for evergreen stories.
In 2017, she won an Outstanding Contribution Award with Sophie Ho for their work using qualitative and quantitative data to analyze 90+ verticals on our site.
Before joining The Post, Everdeen spent two years at Refinery29 as an editor handling trending news and SEO. She also previously worked as a reporter at the Wall Street Journal and Cox Media Group.
Please join me in congratulating Everdeen (@EvMason) on her new role.
