Announcement from Universal Desk Editor Kenisha Malcolm, Deputy Universal Desk Editor Emily Tsao and Night Homepage Editor Chris George:

We are excited to welcome Matt Reed as the Universal Desk’s new Overnight Homepage Editor.

Over the last 20 years, Matt has been a writer and editor for the Associated Press and other news organizations.

He was an editor on AP's West regional editing desk in Phoenix for six years. Before that, Matt was a reporter in AP’s Columbus, Ohio, bureau. He also spent four years working at the Cambodia Daily in Phnom Penh, covering illegal logging and the country’s HIV/AIDS crisis, and later overseeing the newsroom of 35 expatriates and Cambodians. Previously, Matt lived in Washington and was a writer and editor at National Journal's Hotline.

In 2016, Matt moved back to his native Bay Area to be near family and has been working as an editor at Visa since last year. He is a graduate of Saint Mary's College of California and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.

Matt joins the Hub on Monday, Nov. 5 — yes, a day before the midterm election. Please join us in welcoming him.
