Announcement from Sports Editor Matt Vita, Deputy Sports Editor Matt Rennie, and NBA and MLB Editor Glenn Yoder:

We’re thrilled to announce that Ben Golliver will be joining Sports as our new national NBA writer.

Ben is currently a senior NBA writer for Sports Illustrated, based in Los Angeles, where since last summer he’s been chronicling LeBron James’s arrival in the city as a member of the Lakers. In his six-plus years with Sports Illustrated, Ben’s been a prolific writer who has produced a number of memorable cover stories as well as a steady flow of trend stories, analyses, game coverage and breaking news. He’s the co-host of a popular NBA podcast and makes regular appearances on national radio and television broadcast outlets to discuss the latest news and trends in the league.

Ben graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2005 with a degree from the school’s Writing Seminars creative writing program. A native of Beaverton, Oregon, he got his start professionally by writing for blazersedge, a popular website that covered the Portland Trailblazers. After seven years as a writer and editor for the site, he moved to CBS Sports as a Portland-based NBA writer before joining Sports Illustrated.

Ben will be starting with us the week of Dec. 3, when he’ll spend some time in the office before returning to Los Angeles. Please join us in welcoming him.
