Announcement from News/Special Projects Editor Ed Thiede, Deputy Managing Editor Scott Vance and Multiplatform Editor Tracy Dahl:

We are very excited to announce that Jillian Jarrett will be our next Director of Newsroom Operations beginning January 1, replacing the retiring Melissa McCullough.

Jillian’s background as a newsroom manager, her can-do attitude and her attention to detail make her the ideal person to hold this critical job in our newsroom. She has experience working with news logistics, IT, building services, purchasing, payroll and security – all critical partners in helping ensure that the newsroom runs efficiently. Throughout her career, Jillian has proved time and again that she knows how to get things done. We are confident that the past year Jillian spent working alongside Melissa has prepared her to make the transition as seamless as possible.

During her 14 years at The Post, Jillian has held a variety of positions including night news aide, editorial aide on the city desk, manager of the Prince George’s bureau, and most recently administrative services manager. She has worked quite a few election nights, helped carry out the expansion of our newsroom onto the 6th floor, and was recognized as part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team for her contribution to our coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre.

Jillian is a 2002 graduate of Howard University School of Communications. She lives in Hyattsville and spends her free time working for the PTA as the mother of Marley and Amari.

Please join us in congratulating Jillian on her new position.
