From The Lily Editor-in-Chief Amy King, The Lily Deputy Editor Neema Roshania Patel and Director of Emerging News Products Christopher Meighan:

We are pleased to announce that Caroline Kitchener will be joining The Lily as our first full-time staff writer.

She comes to us from The Atlantic, where she was an associate editor. During her time there, she helped to launch and lead Masthead, The Atlantic’s membership program, in addition to writing a number of stories for theatlantic.com. She has covered a range of subjects, including the investigation into USA Gymnastics’ former team doctor, why more couples are maintaining separate bank accounts and the sudden increase of weddings held in barns.

In 2017, Caroline published her first book, “Post Grad,” which explores how five women, including herself, navigated the transition from college to life after graduation. She spent a year reporting on the women and following their journey before moving to China to finish writing it while teaching English.

For The Lily, Caroline will write a mix of daily and longform stories. We look forward to the vision and voice Caroline will bring to our team.

Caroline is a 2014 graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in history as well as gender and sexuality studies.

Her first day at The Post will be Jan. 7.
