Announcement from National Editor Steven Ginsberg, Deputy National Editor Lori Montgomery and Senior Politics Editor Peter Wallsten: We are very excited to announce that Rachael Bade is joining The Post’s national politics team to cover Congress.

Rachael is one of the best-sourced reporters on Capitol Hill and will play a key role in covering the new House majority, including the dynamics animating its historic freshman class, the inner workings of the Democratic leadership team and the coming oversight of President Trump.

Rachael joins us from Politico, where she began as a tax reporter in 2012. She delivered regular scoops on the GOP’s special investigation of the Benghazi terrorist attack and the party’s subsequent probe of Hillary Clinton’s private email use. Rachael has also been out front covering House GOP infighting and congressional Republicans’ struggles to adapt to President Trump’s remaking of the party. Her stories frequently dish behind-the-scenes details about how policy decisions are made, illuminating the personalities and power struggles that affect the public.

An Ohio native, Rachael graduated from the University of Dayton with degrees in political science and communication. She’s a former classical ballet dancer and performed with several small contemporary companies before giving it up for the less graceful but similarly competitive world of political journalism. Rachael, who is a CNN political analyst, lives with her husband Alex and two cats in Alexandria.

Rachael’s first day will be March 4. Please join us in welcoming her to The Post.
