The Washington Post today announced a new Washington Post Live event series, Power Up Live, a companion to the must-read Power Up newsletter authored by Jacqueline Alemany, which gives readers an insider’s look at the news cycle through the lens of Washington insiders, politicos and influencers. The premiere events include leaders from both political parties, House Democratic Caucus chairman Hakeem Jeffries, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

The first Power Up Live will take place on Wednesday, January 30, with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D- New York). He will sit one-on-one with Alemany to discuss the impact of the government shutdown and his legislative priorities for the 116th Congress. Jeffries, the recently elected Democratic Caucus chair, will also preview the 2020 presidential election, and discuss what the Democrats will need in order to reclaim the White House.

On Thursday, January 31, Former Governor Chris Christie, one of the most influential Republican leaders in the country, will talk one-on-one with Washington Post national political reporter Robert Costa about his new book “Let Me Finish: Trump, the Kushners, Bannon, New Jersey, and the Power of In-Your-Face Politics.” Christie will share insights about his time as confidante and advisor to President Donald Trump and also give his take on today’s GOP.
