Announcement from Director of Emerging News Products Chris Meighan and Deputy Design Director for Emerging News Products Amy Cavenaile:

We are delighted to announce that Mia Torres will join the Emerging News Products team as a designer.

Mia joined The Washington Post in 2018 first as a news design intern and then as a contractor. In her time at The Post she has designed print pages for daily and weekly sections, illustrated for Book World and worked on digital projects. Mia’s favorite project was the annual Christmas anthology, which gave her the opportunity to art direct and design both the digital and print versions of the story.

Before joining The Post, Mia attended the New York Times Student Journalism Institute as a designer and interned one summer at the Lee Design Center in Munster, Ind. She graduated from Indiana University in 2018 with a major in journalism and a minor in Spanish. Mia’s most prized possession is a thrifted copy of “Monster Mash” on vinyl.

Mia will focus her time on designing, illustrating and art directing for our national tablet and phone app.

Please join us in congratulating Mia. Her first day will be April 1.
