Announcement from Director of Video Micah Gelman, Deputy Director of Video Phoebe Connelly and Senior Video Producer Peter Stevenson:

We are excited to announce that Mahlia Posey is joining the video department as a politics editor, where she will cover the 2020 campaign, Capitol Hill and how Washington policy shapes our daily lives. Mahlia comes to The Post from PBS NewsHour, where she served as a digital video producer.

At NewsHour, Mahlia produced regular reports from Capitol Hill and the White House on everything from the midterm elections to dairy farmers impacted by tariffs. Before NewsHour, Mahlia freelanced for AJ+.

Mahlia received a bachelor’s in English from Howard University and master’s in journalism from U.C. Berkley. A native of North Las Vegas, she now lives in Alexandria with her two succulent plants, enjoys cooking and is trying to perfect her granny’s black-eyed peas recipe – without the benefit of measurements or written instructions. She’s also a die-hard San Antonio Spurs fan.

Mahlia will report to Peter Stevenson. Please join us in welcoming her on Sept. 9.
