The Washington Post names Carlos Loret de Mola a contributor to Post Opinión
The Washington Post today announced that Mexican journalist Carlos Loret de Mola will be a contributor to Post Opinión, a new page in the Global Opinions section featuring original and translated Spanish-language op-eds. Loret de Mola, who is based in Mexico City, will write regularly about Mexican politics.
“Carlos Loret de Mola’s investigations and extensive sourcing have made him one of the most influential journalists in Mexico today. We’re certain that his perspective will help our readers make sense of this crucial time in the country,” said Mael Vallejo, editor for Post Opinión.
Loret de Mola has worked as a journalist for television, radio, and newspapers, where he’s overseen coverage for leading newsrooms. He served as a correspondent in Libya, Afghanistan, and Syria and has covered global crises including the tsunamis in Indonesia and Japan, the earthquake in Haiti, and the famine in the Horn of Africa. He has published several books, and has won prizes such as the international Rey de España journalism award and Mexico’s national journalism award. His work was featured in Leonardo DiCaprio’s “Sea of Shadows” documentary, which aired in the Sundance Film Festival in 2009.
