Announcement from Foreign Editor Douglas Jehl and Deputy Foreign Editor Eva Rodriguez:

We’re very happy to announce that Benjamin Soloway will join The Post as an assignment editor in Foreign, overseeing newsroom-based staff writers and the Today’s WorldView newsletter.

In this role, Benjamin will drive early morning explanatory and breaking news coverage that complements on-the-ground reporting from The Post’s 30 correspondents around the world. His team will include Adam Taylor, Siobhán O’Grady and Miriam Berger in Washington and Rick Noack in Berlin. He will work with Ishaan Tharoor, the Today’s WorldView anchor, and Ruby Mellen, its editor, to help shape one of our most successful email newsletters.

Benjamin is an associate editor at Foreign Policy, where his duties since 2015 have included editing, reporting and helping produce “First Person,’’ FP’s global-affairs podcast. Earlier in his career, he reported on environmental protection in Bolivia, was a freelancer in Brazil and spent a year in Indonesia as a web editor for the Jakarta Globe, as a Princeton-in-Asia journalism fellow. He also held internships at The Boston Globe, the New Republic, Harper’s and USA Today.

Benjamin is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where he earned a B.A. in history, and studied abroad at Boğaziçi University in Turkey. He’ll start work in the newsroom on Jan. 6.
