Matt Bai joins Washington Post Opinions as politics contributing columnist

Announcement from Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt:

I’m delighted to announce that Matt Bai will be joining Post Opinions as a politics contributing columnist.

Matt Bai is a nationally known journalist, author and screenwriter. He spent more than a decade at the New York Times, where he was the chief political writer for the Sunday magazine and a columnist for the newspaper, and five years as the national political columnist for Yahoo News. His last book, All The Truth Is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid, was named one of 2014’s best books by and NPR. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film based on the book, “The Front Runner,” starring Hugh Jackman, which debuted nationally in 2018. Bai lives with his family in Bethesda, Maryland. Matt has consistently insightful, independent and often contrarian takes on the political landscape that will strengthen the Post’s strong and ideologically diverse stable of political columnists.

Please join us in welcoming Matt to Post Opinions. Matt’s first column will post on Jan. 13.
