Announcement from Graphics Director Chiqui Esteban and Senior Graphics Editor Tim Meko:

We are happy to announce that Adrián Blanco is joining the Graphics team as a reporter.

Adrián was part of The Post’s intern class of 2019. He impressed us with his quick and clever work, which includes a quiz that helps you check how much you know about the Democratic candidates, mapping the day of a Hong Kong protester and explaining the strain on the world’s water supply.

Adrián has worked as a data journalist for El Confidencial, an online news site in Spain, where he participated in the ICIJ’s Paradise Papers investigation. He also interned at the international news agency Agencia EFE in London, the Spanish public TV and radio network RTVE and The Times of London. Before coming to The Post, he earned a master’s in data journalism from Columbia University. He also has an MBA in international management from the Universidad Menendez Pelayo and a bachelor’s in journalism from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Adrián grew up in Miranda de Ebro, a small town in the north of Spain. He enjoys football (aka soccer), tennis and chocolate, and collects books by data visualization pioneers and old maps.

Please join us in congratulating Adrián.
