On Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10:00 a.m. ET, Washington Post Live will host “Primary Care in the time of COVID-19,” a virtual event focused on addressing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our primary care system and family physicians.

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical role of the family physician and primary care providers in our health system. Doctors, nurses, and other health care workers in hospitals and emergency rooms have responded with bravery and resilience to the pandemic.

Mike Varshavski, DO, a primary care physician, and Patrice Harris, MD, immediate past president of the American Medical Association, will each discuss how family physicians have had to innovate, make rapid changes to their practice environment for the safety of patients and staff, and pivot to telemedicine to ensure patients have access to uninterrupted care.
