The Washington Post today introduced its latest data-centric feature, “How To Read This Chart,” a newsletter that dives into the data behind the week’s news. Each Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, National Correspondent Philip Bump will analyze a chart explaining a phenomenon in subjects including economics, pop culture and politics. Bump will break down how the chart works and guide readers through ways visualizations could be improved.

“We are excited to expand our newsletter portfolio to include a product dedicated to helping readers better understand and easily digest news through visual storytelling driven by data,” said Rachel Van Dongen, editor of The Washington Post’s 202 newsletters. "Our readers love Philip Bump, having followed his insightful takes on news of day for years, and we're looking forward to having him share his analysis directly with readers in the inbox."
