Announcement from Graphics Director Kat Downs and Deputy Graphics Director Laris Karklis:
We are thrilled to announce that Kevin Schaul will be joining the Graphics department as a graphics editor on April 1. Kevin will be developing interactive graphics off the news and building tools that will make creating interactive maps, charts and pages faster and easier.
Kevin is a data journalist with a special interest in cartography and public policy. He is set to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in computer science this spring. He has interned with The Seattle Times, The New York Times and MinnPost and has worked part-time as a digital news developer at The Star Tribune in Minneapolis for the past year and a half. His latest project allows users to find their favorite local beers: http://apps.startribune.com/news/20140313-beer-me-minnesota/
He grew up in the Windy City suburbs of Gurnee and Lake Forest, where he developed a deep love for Chicago sports and deep dish pizza. In his free time, Kevin dabbles in photography and distance running.
Kevin will be working remotely from Minnesota for the next two months and will join us here in D.C. the first week of June. Please join us in welcoming him to The Post. You can see more of Kevin’s work at http://kevin.schaul.io.
