Announcement from Editor Justin Bank:

We are pleased to announce that Abby Phillip will be the first writer on the new general assignment team.

Abby comes to us from ABC News where she spent the last year as a digital reporter covering politics in their Washington Bureau. She was a key contributor to The Note, often filing hundreds of times on political news of the moment. Mixing aggregation with original reporting, Abby has a proven track record of making sure a newsroom is competitive online with news, scoops and enterprise throughout the day.

Abby is a Harvard graduate with a degree in government who served as News Executive Editor of the Crimson. Before joining ABC she spent two years with Politico as a White House correspondent covering Obama before moving to cover money and politics. During her time at Politico she demonstrated her ability for fast files with contributions to the
44 blog as well as a knack for ambitious enterprise with a profile of Richard Lugar and an examination of the anti-war movement’s struggles during the Obama presidency.

We look forward to taking advantage of Abby’s keen understanding of the web and writing skill as she contributes around the room in this new role. Please welcome her to the newsroom when she joins us on April 7.
