“We are always focused on our readers, and these changes are a real response to what they wanted,” said Liz Seymour, executive Features editor at The Washington Post. “The Magazine has a beautiful new design with a mix of narrative, photos and graphics, and we’re improving the Arts & Style section without cutting any content.”
The new Arts & Style section will be more visual in print and online bringing together arts and popular culture coverage with stories about theater, dance, movies, art, exhibits and the people behind them. In addition, readers will continue to find Book World, Weddings, and the Style Invitational.
Known for its smart and entertaining stories about the interesting people, places and events that make the Washington region unique, The Magazine will now also showcase photographs, graphics, and content that is more applicable to readers’ daily lives. New features include the following:
- Just Asking—Behind-the-scene interviews with notable Washingtonians
- Apptitude—Reviews of new apps for your home, travel, or health and fitness
- Plate Lab—Food editors Joe Yonan and Bonnie Benwick translate restaurant dishes into recipes to try at home
- Crunched—Data-driven statistics about the region
- Street Smart—Spotlights the current places to be, shop or socialize on a block or neighborhood
Reader favorites—such as Date Lab, @WorkAdvice, Tom Sietsema’s Dining, Going Out Guide, Gene Weingarten’s Below the Beltway, and the crossword—will continue to appear in The Magazine.
