Announcement from Liz Seymour, executive features editor, David Malitz and Mitch Rubin, deputy features editors:

We’re excited to announce that Caitlin Moore will be the Digital Editor for the new pop culture team in Features.

Caitlin will work with the pop culture editors, critics, reporters and bloggers on story ideas from conception through production and distribution. She will help develop stories that will appeal to our growing national audience, work with the graphics and video teams to craft the digital presentation of those stories, and with the audience, engagement and PR teams to get those stories to as wide an audience as possible.

Caitlin has spent the past three years on the Universal News Desk as a homepage producer. Her duties have ranged from creating red carpet galleries to editing foreign copy on the overnight shift to updating the iPad app. In addition to the editing and production skills she honed on the UND, Caitlin was the perfect fit for this job because, she said, “my Twitter feed is 95 percent entertainment and arts commentary (and, truthfully, two percent complaining about my insurance and three percent general curmudgeonly musings.)”

Before starting at the Post in August of 2011, she graduated from American University with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in cinema studies. During her time in college, she interned at HOT 99.5 and Washington City Paper, was managing editor of features for AU’s college newspaper The Eagle, and co-host of a campus television show.

She will begin in Features in mid-September and report to Mitch Rubin. We can’t wait.
