Announcement from Ryan Kellett, audience and engagement editor:

We’d like to officially welcome Herman Wong to the newsroom. He has already proven himself discerning editor and strong voice in his few short weeks on the Social Team.

Herman comes to The Post from Quartz where he served as the lead voice on social channels and oversaw audience strategy. We look forward to having him serve a similar role here working with reporters and editors on brainstorming digitally native and social-first stories. He also has knack for distilling down complex and wonky stories into great social headlines that connect with readers.

Born in San Francisco, Herman has spent extensive time living in China, Japan, and South Korea. His Mandarin and Cantonese language skills occasionally come in handy too. He recently posted the rare Washington Post Facebook post in Chinese. Herman has a master’s from New York University’s journalism program and previously worked at Newsday.

Please come by and say hello to@hermanywong.
