Memo: Digital subscription, business development and data analytics teams restructured

Washington Post Publisher Frederick J. Ryan shared the following announcement with staff today.

Dear Washington Post Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce some exciting developments in our digital subscription, business development and data analytics initiatives. We have made industry-leading strides in all of these areas and feel that now is the time to realign our structure to devote laser-like focus and even greater resources to these important strategic initiatives.

Beth Diaz, Vice President and resident expert on audience analytics and research analysis, will lead a team dedicated exclusively to these increasingly important functions. The Post has achieved amazing success in this rapidly expanding field. Beth and her department will analyze site performance and reader behavior to inform our business strategy. As we execute on our plan to vastly expand our national and global readership, this is an area that requires specific focus and dedicated resources. The research and analytics team is well-positioned for continued success and to deliver critical insights under Beth’s leadership.

Miki King, Vice President of Operations, will lead our business development and digital subscription teams. Miki came to The Post earlier this year with a long resume of business development experience in both professional services and digital media. She was one of the chief architects of Politico’s successful digital subscription product, Politico Pro. Miki built and led that sales team through the first few years in the market, far exceeding goals of the newly launched product. Miki previously managed business development for the health care practice of a major law firm, and led business development teams at The Advisory Board Company. We’re excited to bring Miki’s background and expertise to bear in this expanded role at The Post.

Leili Boroumand, Director of Business Development, Molly Urciolo, Product Marketing Specialist, and Pedram Farsii, Marketing Manager for Digital Subscriptions will report to Miki.

We are excited to launch this plan on August 1st. I’m confident that the new structure will afford us the level of focus and expertise we need to build upon our success in audience analytics, business development and digital subscriptions, and ensure that we are well-poised to seize the opportunities ahead.

Best regards,
