New features include first news-based quiz on Alexa, headlines briefing

The Washington Post announced today the release of the new Washington Post skill on Alexa-enabled devices. Alexa users will now be able to access headlines of the latest top stories, hear a daily politics briefing presented by Fix Founder Chris Cillizza, and test their knowledge of the hottest news of the week with a Know Your News quiz.

“There has been tremendous growth in users of Post skills and engagement with our current products, so we’re excited to expand the experience on that platform,” said Joseph Price, Senior Product Manager at The Post. “We’ve seen that the most successful Alexa services become user habits, and we hope our new Washington Post skill and news quiz become part of our readers’ daily rituals.”

The popular weekly Know Your News quiz is the first news-based quiz on Alexa. The quiz features 8 questions and is curated and produced by Post staff. A new set of questions will be available Saturday mornings.

Users can access the Washington Post skill by asking Alexa to enable Washington Post, open Washington Post, or posing a specific question such as, “Alexa, ask Washington Post for a news quiz.”
